The Flutterby Hostel is an open space integrated into the natural beauty of Uvita de Osa, Costa Rica. The whole property is open to the fresh ocean air drifting through the surrounding forests and mango trees.
So, what exactly is this place? A basecamp for adventuring? The best spot to grab a cold beverage and swing in a hammock? A beach bum's home away from home? Well, it's really anything you want it to be. We provide sleeping quarters, linens, a full chef's kitchen, showering facilities, and you decide the rest.
In keeping with the harmony of our natural surroundings, we have made every effort to make sure that your stay is sustainable. We use fresh ocean air and the canopy of mango trees for ventliation and skylights instead of lightbulbs. Our biodigester recycles waste and does not pollute the groundwater, and is instead recovered into greywater and rich fertilizer for our landscaping. We have chickens that provide pest control and take care of food scraps. (Their favorite food is coconut.)
And, we're local! Not only do we grow vegetables, herbs, and fruits on the property, but all raw materials used in construction were harvested within 30 miles.
